The Great Wood is located about 10 miles north of the Historic City of York, just outside the village of Flaxton.
We advise only using your Sat Nav until you reach Flaxton, as most Sat Nav’s don’t take you directly to the postcode.
From the A64, follow the road into the village of Flaxton, go over the railway line (near the end of the village) and less than half a mile from the crossing you will come to a small country crossroads. Turn left at the crossroads down the single track tarmac road (Gennell Lane). Travel along this road for nearly one mile until the tarmac road makes a sharp right. Continue forwards on to the stone track (with the woodland to your left) and the entrance to the Great Wood is about 100 yards down on the left.
